Franca Oneya, pretty daughter of the former military administrator of Plateau and Kano State Brigadier
Dominic Oneya gunned was down in cold blood along Ovie Palace Road in
Effurun, Delta State when she was returning from the bank on Friday where she
had gone to withdraw money.
According to one eyewitness:
“The incident happened at about 10.40am. I saw residents
and passersby scrambling for safety after multiple gunshots were fired into the
air. "By the time the robbers were done, a pretty young lady lay in a pool
of blood on the driver’s seat. A neighbour, with whom we all rushed to the
scene of the incident, identified the victim as the daughter of a notable
politician in the state.”
Police
spokesperson in Delta, DSP Celestina Kalu confirmed the killing, saying
that the police has already spread its dragnet to fish out those behind that
dastardly act.
A visit to the
family compound of Brig. Gen. Dominic Oneya, Saturday evening, friends,
sympathizers, family and political associates were seen in pensive mood and
consoling the general.
