LOVE IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN MONEY IN KEEPING RELATIONSHIP GOING...FISAN BALOGUN

Chief (Mrs) Anthonia  Fisan Balogun , a former president,  National Council of Women Societies  (NCWS), Ogun State, in her recent interview with Nigerian Tribune , talks about love, money and relationship. Below are some excerpts.
Which do you think  is more important, love or money, in keeping a relationship going?
It’s love. At a time in life, one will be young and appear beautiful or handsome. But  when you start advancing in age, you may lose your teeth,  your hair may start falling off, the wrinkles may  start appearing and you  may not look appealing like you did in the past.  At this stage, the love and friendship you and your spouse  have developed over the years will hold both of  you  together. What is important in life is survival and not   accumulation  of wealth. If a couple have N100 and   they share it in love and are contented, they will be happy.  You may be financially buoyant today but can   experience a setback   tomorrow. If your relationship  is hinged on wealth, it will collapse.  Only love stands the test of time.

To what extent should a woman go in supporting her home financially?
A woman is the engine of the home and with the present downturn of  the  economy, no man can run the home alone. A couple needs all the money to propel the family into progress. It’s very important that both must have savings no matter how small and plan for the future and rainy day.

In a situation the woman becomes the breadwinner, should the man feel threatened?
No. When  you  contract  a  marriage,  it is ‘For Better For  Worse.’ The woman in such a situation  should  do  things  to  make the man level up somehow with her. If   the woman was there for the man, he  will  definitely  reciprocate  when  the sun shines on his side again, although some   men have disappointed their  women. One thing that is sure is that if you are good and stood by your  husband  during  his  trials, God has a way of   compensating   you. Your children   will   also  respect  and  care for you.
