Isleworth, in the United Kingdom yesterday sentenced Ghanaian-Austrian citizen, Nayele Ametefe aka Ruby Appiah, 32, mother of 3, to 8 years,8
months’ imprisonment, following her concession that she was guilty
of all the charges levelled against her. Though she was not physically present
in court during her confession, she pleaded guilty to the charges via a video

Nayele Ametefe aka Ruby Appiah , was sentenced on
her own plea of guilty to carrying 12 kilos of cocaine to the United Kingdom,
the cocaine carried had a purity of 78%
and a street value of 1.872 million Pounds.
The prosecutors
told the court that Nayele had $23,000 and an additional 6,000 Pounds in her
handbag when she was arrested. The money was believed to be payment for her
courier services.
Per the prosecutor’s
submission, Nayele Ametefe, whose conduct came as a surprise was
carting the cocaine to South America.
Her travel
itinerary, the court was told indicated that she was leaving the United Kingdom
two days after her arrival, for the Dominican Republic, , therefore, the 12
kilograms of cocaine was not meant to be consumed in the UK.
According to the
lawyer, Nayele came into contact with powerful politicians in 2004 and her life
changed dramatically. She travelled extensively with influential people as
their companion. She was forced by circumstances to engage in transporting
drugs to support her newly attained high class lifestyle and to take care of
her three children, the lawyer said. Watch a video clip of her life style HERE.
