NOLLYWOOD's new film “BASIRA” premier in
London at the Odeon Cinema in southeast London that is believed to have
attracted about 2,000 viewers has broke all the previous records!
According to the promoter,
Theodora Ibekwe-Oyebade, "This film
broke all previous records as in the past, the maximum number of halls we have
sold for a Nollywood premier is three. Several of the Nigerian actors in the
film like Eniola Badmus arrived in the UK for the premier and this boosted
attendance further.
"This is a good thing for
Nollywood as it indicates that our films are beginning to make greater inroads
into the UK. We have set a new record of using six halls for a film in the UK
and hopefully, this will grow further."
A humorous and comic film
depicting Basira played by Eniola as a raw Nigerian migrant who came to the UK
and struggled to cope with the cultural difference was produced and directed
by Philippa Abraham; Basira in London features Nollywood actors Eniola Badmus,
Tolu Yesufu, Theodora Ibekwe-Oyebade and many more.
