OLUWO OF IWO MODE OF DRESSING: OBA THAT SPITS ON THE FACE OF YORUBA TRADITION AND CULTURE

The 16th Oluwo of Iwo kingdom,Oba Rasheed Akanbi who is married to a Jamaican woman and has lived abroad for over 20 years, was crowned the Oluwo of Iwo kingdom in Osun state, on November 9, 2015.

Much have been said about the mode of dressing of this monarch; however, the most captivating and educative of the criticism was that of  Pa Joseph Fagbola... inter alia: "By his mode of dressing, Oba Akanbi, Oluwo of Iwo has put our traditional institution on the line in the first place and he must therefore appear before the Chief Magistrate Why would Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwuyi , and Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi not call the Oluwo to order over his mode of dressing?.
He is spitting on the face of Yoruba tradition and the foremost Obas in Yoruba land must wipe the spitting off.

Soon Obas will be wearing jeans and T-shirt with crown on their heads Becoming an Oba is not a reality show at all It is the symbol of our rich culture and tradition which must be handed over to our children and children's children without blemish"

The' Anti-kidnapping Bill' was yesterday passed into law by The Lagos State House of Assembly . Tagged “A bill for a law to provide for the prohibition of the act of kidnapping and for other connected purposes”, it will become law after Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s assent.

The bill prescribes death sentence for kidnappers whose victims died in their custody. Kidnappers whose victims did not die in their custody will get life jail.

It was passed following the adoption of a report presented by Chairman of the House Committee on Judiciary, Petitions, Human Rights and Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) Mrs Adefunmilayo Tejuosho.
