ADEBOYE: CAN REACTS TO THE SACK OF JIM OBAZEE BY PRESIDENT BUHARI

The Leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria CAN, have reacted to the sack of the Executive Secretary of the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) Executive Secretary, Jim Obazee, by President Buhari, yesterday January 9th. Obazee effected the Corporate Governance Code that prohibits leaders of non-profit organizations, including churches, from being in office for more than 20 years.

Speaking to DailyTrust, the General Secretary of CAN, Rev. Musa Asake said Obazee's sack proved that anybody who fought with the church will find himself in a place that he doesn't want.
"The sack of Jim (Obazee) is good riddance to bad rubbish. Anybody that wants to fight the church will find himself where he does not want. Jim got to the position by the grace of God, but set out to probe and destroy the church of God. I spoke with him several times on this issue but he wouldn’t listen. He was going to take the church to what is worse than Armageddon. Thank God the authorities have stepped in to right the wrong. He should have been fired a long time ago and we don’t know why he was left alone, but God’s time is always the best. That code should be thrown out completely because government should not interfere with the church. The church is a no-go zone for the government. Doing that has serious implications. It they attempt it, it will lead to confusion in the nation.”

WE ARE WORKING TO LEGISLATE AGAINST EARLY MARRIAGES~~EMIR OF KANO

Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II has said that the Kano Emirate Council and the government of Kano state are working towards enacting a law that will stop early marriage in Northern Nigeria. The monarch who is an ardent advocate against the practice of early marriage, said this at his investiture ceremony as the Grand Patron for Women and Children Healthcare by the United Nation’s Population Fund in Kano yesterday January 9th.

According to the Emir, the practice of early marriage has made many girls lose their lives as most of them die while giving birth at such young age.

“Women are married in Northern Nigeria at a tender age thereby leading her to lose her life, the child and the indices are there for each state. Some people attribute the death and challenges to God but we know that God does not dislike us. Why is it that the indices are worst in the north? I call on our imams to address this. It is a shame that the UN had to come and tell us how to look after our children. We are the ones to do it and we should not wait for the UN’’ he said

POPE URGES WOMEN TO BREASTFEED THEIR KIDS IN CHURCH WITHOUT FEAR

The Pope,  had  voiced his support for breastfeeding, including in public.
According to him, faith does not just mean reciting the Creed on Sundays, but rather it means believing in the truth, trusting in God and teaching others with the example of our lives.

Faith, the Pope continued, is also the light which grows in our hearts – that’s why a lighted candle is given to every person being baptized. In the early years of the Church, he noted, baptism was called ‘illumination’ to show the way in which faith helps us see things in a different light. To the parents who had brought their children to be baptized, he said “you have the task of making that faith grow, of nurturing it, so that it may bear witness to others”.

As the sounds of crying grew louder, the Pope joked that the concert had begun. The babies are crying, he said, because they are in an unfamiliar place, or because they had to get up early, or sometimes simply because they hear another child crying. Jesus did just the same,
Pope Francis said, adding that he liked to think of Our Lord’s first sermon as his crying in the stable. And if your children are crying because they are hungry, the Pope told the mothers present, then go ahead and feed them, just as Mary breastfed Jesus.

Pope Francis encouraged women attending a ceremony in the Sistine Chapel on Sunday to feel free to breastfeed their children in the church.

"The ceremony is a little long, someone's crying because he's hungry. That's the way it is," the pontiff said. "You mothers, go ahead and breastfeed, without fear. Just like the Virgin Mary nursed Jesus," he told worshipers attending an annual ceremony commemorating the baptism of Jesus.
