CATHOLIC PRIEST ADMITS SPENDING £50,000 STOLEN FROM HIS PARISH ON HIS GIRL FRIEND !

A Roman Catholic priest who fell in love with his housekeeper defrauded his parish of more than £50,000 while lavishing her and her daughters with gifts.

The Rev John Reid, 70, was supposed to live a simple life, but spent £1,200 on a canteen of cutlery, was a member of the Sunday Times Wine Club and spent £80 on oysters and smoked salmon while holidaying in Scotland.

Jane Waugh, prosecuting, said the priest, now living in Stockton, had joined the parish in 2009 and accounts showed spending increased fourfold in some areas after he took over.

She said "female clothing" had been found in the bedrooms and passports belonging to the housekeeper Gillian Leddy and her two daughters had been found in the safe.

The court heard that Mr Reid told police he had fallen in love with Gillian Leddy, and saw her daughters, Veronica and Alice, as "the family that he never had".

During the inquiry, it emerged that the priest gave property and money to the Leddys on a "large scale", buying two homes each for Veronica and Alice, a car each and financing a cafe business for them.

He also gave them both substantial amounts of cash. But Ms Waugh said the money for these gifts came from an inheritance of the priest, not the result of fraud.

Mr Reid accepted taking the Leddys out to eat "a few times a week". Over the four years he was at St Cuthbert's, his basic remuneration should have totalled £31,455.

PHOTOS: TWO FEMALE SUICIDE BOMBERS KILLED IN A FAILED ATTACK AT MOSQUE IN MAIDUGURI TODAY !

Two female suicide bombers have been killed in a failed suicide attack in Maiduguri, Borno state. Confirming the attack, the state police Public Relations Officer, Victor Isuku said the suicide bombers were killed while attempting to forcefully gain entrance into a mosque this morning.

“At about 0520hrs today (Saturday), two female suicide bombers with improvised explosives device strapped to their bodies attempted to enter a mosque at Juddumuri village, after the Federal High Court.

They were intercepted and prevented by the Muslim worshippers. In the process, one of them detonated her vest, killing both of them and injuring five other persons. The injured were rushed to the State Specialist Hospital, while the remains of the suicide bombers were evacuated by the State Emergency Management Agency”he said See more photos after the cut.

Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara State, has responded to the comments made by Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, insisting that the comments were half-truth. He also maintained that the outbreak of the disease indeed has a spiritual undertone.

“I stand by my words that if people do not change, God will not change for them. Therefore, I will answer the Emir perfectly and give him the Quran content of the Hadith where I belong to and where I have my fact.

For instance, I made mention that in the past we have Type A, which vaccines have been brought and they have vaccinated over 4 million doses in 2011. “We are now having Type B and Type C which they don’t even know. At the Centre for Disease Control in Chicago where we get our vaccines from, they only have 5 million,” he said. .

Recall that the Emir of Kano had on Wednesday, at the opening of the Kaduna State Economic and Investment Summit, criticised the statement credited to the Zamfara State Governor on meningitis, saying they were horrendous and “Islamically incorrect."

Segun Odihiri, 36, was caught yesterday with his mum's head, has made a shocking revelation, on why he killed his 83-year-old mother,  Maria Odihiri, in Uzzeba, Owan West LGA of Edo State.

According to him, he committed the said crime because his mother alerted the public while he was trying to rape his own daughter.

A  witness, Mr Ekemeiren Ojekhugbo, alleged that his mother started screaming when she caught Segun in the act.

“For him to cover his shame, he picked up a cutlass and cut off his mother’s head while the daughter ran for safety.”

It was gathered that Segun who hid the body of his mother earlier, was caught while attempting to dispose of it. Moreover, it was also alleged that he always threatened to kill her any time they had a misunderstanding. He was later taken to the Owan West Divisional Police Command in Sabongidda Ora.

A Pastor, Taiwo Olubayode, has been handed a 9- year jail sentence by a family court in Oke-Eda Akure, Ondo State,who was arrested after it was learnt that he impregnated his 16-year-old daughter, Elizabeth Bosede,  the pregnancy that led to the birth of baby Michael!

It is alleged that the sexual relationship between the father of 13 children who is married to 3 wives, and his daughter has been going on for years, but came to limelight after Bosede got pregnant.

Here's what a police source said: “It was discovered during investigation that the victim, after she found out she was pregnant, alerted the suspect. He gave her some concoctions to drink; he wanted to abort the pregnancy. But the concoctions failed. .
.

After repeated attempts and with the pregnancy advancing, he left it. The suspect tried to smuggle the victim out of the house to a private clinic for an abortion. The girl refused and threatened to raise the alarm.

The suspect, in anger instructed the victim to stay indoors to avoid suspicion from church members and neighbours. Whenever neighbours asked after Bosede, Olubayode would tell them she traveled to visit her mother. .


Bosede stopped going to school when the pregnancy started showing. According to Olubayode, he was tempted by the devil to have sex with his daughter. Investigations showed that the cleric, whose church is located at Okedo Street, Odode, Idanre, is quite popular.A good number of people, from far and near, used to troop to the church seeking miracles.

According to source, when Bosede’s mother wanted to walk out of the marriage, she tried to take Bosede, but Olubayode refused. He insisted that he needed Bosede to run errands. Bosede bottled up everything because her father warned her not to disclose the llicit affair to anybody.
