HOW EFCC RAIDED OSBORNE APARTMENT.....AND RECOVER BILLIONS !

The serenity of the highbrow area of Osborne road, Ikoyi, Lagos State, on Wednesday was shattered by gunshots.
The gunshots, which reverberated through the quiet community, were from smoking guns of operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The operatives reached Osborne road around 4:30pm.

The reason for the sporadic shooting is yet unknown, but people in the area, including guards attached to the posh houses scampered for safety. Some of the guards made valiant efforts to hurriedly lock their gates before bolting for cover.

When the gunshots died down, some brave hearted guards gingerly stepped out and noticed that policemen and EFCC operatives, with vehicles, were at the front of House 16 Osborne Road.
House 16 Osborne Road is an 11 story building, excluding its penthouse.

The operatives made a beeline for the seventh floor. The door of the apartment was forced open.
Money was alleged to have been discovered in two rooms in the apartment. Another set of money was discovered in wardrobe. The money was neatly arranged were US dollars, British pound sterlings and some naira notes in sealed wrappers. The money was put as $43.4m, £27,800 and N23.2m.

The EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, said the discovery was through a tip-off from a whistleblower.

Yesterday, our correspondent was at the highbrow community and it was almost like a ghost town. Many of the residents were said to have gone to their different offices. But even  if they were at home, they tend to mind their businesses in their lush apartments. Buildings there are alleged to be owned by politicians and highly placed Nigerian individuals.

Private guards, attached to Bulwark security manned the gate of 16 Osborn roads. They were rude and hostile to journalists.

The leader, Haruna Mohammed, said they didn’t receive any instruction to allow journalists into the compound of the building. Stern faced mobile policemen were sighted inside the compound. Four men were also seen farther inside the compound, discussing.
Some private guards in the street, who witnessed the commando style EFCC operatives shot as they stormed the area, said they thought a robbery operation was taking place.

One of the guards in the street said: “When the EFCC operatives were coming, they took one way. As they came closer to Osborne road, they started shooting sporadically. Everyone started running. Nobody knew what was happening. We later saw cars going into number 16. We saw policemen.”
Another resident, working for one of the rich folks in the area, said that he later saw two cleaners that work at House 16. They were crying. He noted that even some of the guards were fuming.

He said: “They cried that they didn’t know that such a huge amount of money was inside one of the apartments in the building. They are not well paid. The guards working at House 16, said they used to see people take bags into the apartment, but never knew the bags contained money. The people who used to bring the bags, sometimes used to give them a tip of N500. The guards were angry that those people give them just N500, when they had so much more in the apartment.”

A northerner, working in one of the buildings on Osborne road said: “The shooting yesterday was too much. I thought the shooters were armed robbers. I later saw vehicles driving in and out of House 16. There were policemen everywhere.”

Uwujaren said that a court has ordered a confiscation of the money. Sources said that the EFCC was already on the trail of the elusive owner of the money and apartment. It was also alleged that EFCC is already making contact with the owner of the building.
Reacting to questions of the owner of the building, Uwujaren said: “We’ve only just discovered the money. We’re still investigating. These things take time. We don’t know the owner of the building or money yet.”

The EFCC also denied disclosing to anyone that the former Managing Director (Operations) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Esther Nnamdi-Ogbue, was the owner of the apartment and money. Indeed, Wilson said: “We’re yet to make any arrest.”
Yesterday, some social media linked the money and apartment to Nnamdi-Ogbue. The woman’s lawyer, in a fast move, denied the allegation.

Nnamdi-Ogbue’s lawyer, Emeka Etiaba (SAN), in a statement said the report was far from the truth. Etiaba said his client was shocked by the reports.

He wrote: “The attention of our client, Mrs. Esther Nnamdi-Ogbue has been drawn to the news making round in the News Media to the effect that the large sums of money to wit: $38,000,000.00 (Thirty-Eight Million Dollars),N23,000,000.00 (Twenty-Three Million Naira) and £27,000.00 (Twenty-Seven Thousand Pounds) uncovered by the Economic and Financial Crimes (EFCC) from an apartment in Osborne Towers, Osborne Road, Ikoyi Lagos, Lagos State belong to her.

“By this Press Release, we inform the public (especially the News Media) that the said sums of money and/or the apartment where the sums of money were found do not belong to Our Client.

“Our Client is as shocked as many other Nigerians at the uncovering and recovery of the said sums of money and wishes to salute the courage and efforts of the EFCC in the war against corruption.

“She also wishes to commend the whistle blowing policy introduced by the Federal Government in the fight against corruption which policy has resulted in large scale uncovering and recovery of monies and assets.

“It is Our Client’s belief that the source and ownership of the said uncovered sums of money is known or eventually will be known by the EFCC in due course. There is therefore no need for conjecture or speculation. May we finally implore the News Media to be more circumspect in their publications.”.

A former contestant on the popular reality show American Idol was sentenced to 70 years in prison on Wednesday after he was found guilty on multiple charges of child pornography.

Brandon Cox, 26, of Wetumpka, Alabama received the maximum sentence possible after a jury in January found him guilty on seven counts of possession of child pornography.

The one-time reality star, who in 2012 made it to the Hollywood round on American Idol, had insisted throughout the trail and again at his sentencing on Wednesday that he was innocent. .
.
Among the 275 images that were discovered on Cox's computer was one that showed an infant engaged in a sex act according to District Attorney Randall Houston.

'It’s very rare for us to deal with child porn cases where the images depict such young victims,” he said. "Usually it may be young girls, 14 to 15, which is bad, don’t get me wrong.

But he had photos and videos of toddlers, 4- or 5-year-olds. There were even photos of an infant engaged in sexual acts. Most of the children in these images and videos were male toddlers and younger male children," said Houston

ROBBERS TIED UP TWO POLICEMEN WHILE SLEEPING ON DUTY IN LAGOS !

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, has ordered that two policemen, a sergeant and an inspector, be detained for sleeping on duty and losing their rifles to armed robbers.

The two policemen, who were attached to a biscuit company at Apapa, were attacked at the company’s premise, while sleeping. The robbers, after beating the policemen black and blue, left with their service rifles. The attack on the company would be the second.

The robbers, who attacked the policemen with an iron rod, also beat up the company’s private security guards and driver. The incident happened on March 30.

When our correspondent visited the biscuit company, residents in the area explained that the robbers got into the company’s premises through the waterway. They came in a speed boat. They arrived around 10pm and started shooting sporadically.
Some of the workers, who were on night duty, hurriedly left what they were doing and scampered for safety as bullets begin to fly.

The robbers, who were fully armed, positioned themselves in different locations within the company. The guards were said to have been tied to a pole and given a severe beating.

A lotto agent, who simply identified himself as Abiodun said: “The last time robbers came to the company, they carted away money, phones and laptops. When the robbers came on that Thursday, they started shooting right from the shore. Their gunshot lasted for minutes before they gained access into company.

“It was after the robbers had left that we saw the two policemen being led out of the company premises by some workers. The policemen had serious injuries all over their bodies. We learnt that the robbers disarmed the policemen and went away with their service rifles.”
Abiodun continued: “The two mobile policemen were battling to stay alive. My suggestion to the police authority is to patrol waterways in Lagos, in order to prevent further robberies.”

A worker in the company, who refused to disclose his name, said: “The robbery was a bad experience for many of us. When we heard the gunshots, we thought it was the normal gunshots that we used to hear around here. It not until we saw the gunmen inside our company, shooting like they were in an American movie, that we became alarmed. They ordered everybody to lay face-down. They demanded for the days’ sales. They collected our phones and laptops. It was from where I was lying on the ground, that I noticed two among the robbers dragging a bag to the riverside. Those in the boat shouted at the ones dragging the bag to hurry. After the operation, they told the policemen, never to attempt to stop their operation when next they come to the company. They threatened to kill anyone who tries to stop them next time they come to the company.”

A source said: “The robbery happened at a biscuit company located at Apapa. A sergeant and an inspector, attached to the Special Protection Unit (SPU), were attacked by armed robbers while they were sleeping. The policemen normally do escort duty for the company. They used to escort expatriates working with the company. When the policemen and company driver returned that fateful day, it was late and they were tired. They told themselves that they needed a rest. They have a room where they used to rest in the company. The driver, who used to take them around during escort duty, also went to sleep with them. In the night, armed robbers came through water. The robbers found the policemen sleeping. They collected their rifles and gave them severe beatings, including the driver.

They tied the private security guards of the company and locked the policemen in a room. They left with the police rifles. The two policemen were later detained by police command. The policemen were beaten with an iron rod. The company was robbed.”
Determined to catch the robbers, detectives from Lagos State Police Headquarters, went to Apapa and embarked on intense investigation.
A few days later, the rifles were recovered and four suspects arrested.

A police source said that detectives trailed the suspects to their various hideouts. One suspect was first arrested and used as a bait to catch others.
The police source said: “ The suspects hid the police rifles in the creeks; between Lagos and Ogun states.”

Confirming the arrest, the Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Olarinde Famous Cole, stated that investigation is ongoing.

'MY COLLEAGUES FRAMED ME FOR KIDNAPPING' ~~CYNTHIA AUDU

Miss Cynthia Audu 30, on February 27, became another victim of the social media madness and lies.
According to Audu, a viral message, shared on social medial showed that the purported user of a WhatsApp got an invitation for interview, after applying for job on a vacancy site.

The user said that when she got to the venue, where the job interview was to be held, she discovered the building and job, were ruse used by ritual killers to get victims.
The viral message read: “I applied for a job via Jiji on Monday, on Wednesday I was called for interview in Maryland. When I got to the lonely building in Mende, I saw two men, the look on their faces was not funny.”

According to the message, the applicant was asked to switch off her phone by two men and allegedly harassed to enter the building. She said she was saved by another guy who saw her wearing a Winners Church wristband and came to help her. He advised her to leave because of the suspicious nature of the arrangement.

Audu, who was caught up in the storm that followed the broadcast of the applicant, is the team leader of Zenrise Marketers located at 1, Olabisi Close, Mende, Maryland, Lagos.
Audu has refuted the story, stressing that she only engages in training, personal development, supply of services and recruitment into product marketing.

Audu, in company with her lawyer, Barrister Adeola Samuel Ilori,  said her group, which is an affiliate of multi-level marketing firm, GNLD, does not engage in any shady business.
According to Audu, the message was the handiwork of her detractors, who were bent on running her out of business.

She explained that Zenrise Integrated Services is into distribution of neo-life products, human capacity training and personal life development.
She said: “I got to the office on that day and was shown a viral message by my colleagues about our building and our office. In the message, somebody said she was saved from kidnapping and all that. Just as I got to office, policemen from Anthony Police Station came and demanded to speak with me. They had a chat with me; I explained the nature of our work to them. They went round the building and inspected the whole place. They found nothing incriminating. I went with them to the police station; I wrote my statement and went back to office. They also took statements from some of my distributors.

“Two days later, policemen from Zone 2, Onikan,  came to the building. They arrested about five to eight persons and took them to Zone 2. I wasn’t around when they came. They called me and I went there. When I got there, they released the guys who are my trainees and distributors. I was detained for two days on the ground that the AIG wanted to have a chat with me.”
Speaking further, Audu said: “We used to gather people for training. We are not the only one using that building; there is a church and a pharmaceutical company. There is a photo studio and a bar. I moved into the office last year. The experience for me looks as if it was a dream. I’m  a responsible citizen who is out to assist people. I don’t know why some people want to bring me down with such an incredible lie.”

Audu said that she wanted members of the public to  know that, “I’m not involved in any human
trafficking or kidnapping or shady business. All we do is to save the hopeless and get them engaged with something that they can use to take care of themselves and families.”
Ilori, who is also a human right activist, said the allegation was completely baseless. He urged the police to fish out the people behind the false alarm and kidnap allegation.
Ilori said further that in the course of his own personal investigation, he realised that the message was a hoax, aimed at tarnishing the image and business of Audu.
