HOME OF GENTRY'S : "IF I DIE THERE WOULD BE NO IMAGE TO PROTECT"~~ MERCY AIGBE

home of the Gentry’s  Mercy Aigbe’s husband, Lanre Gentry was remanded in prison during the week for failure to meet his bail condition, in an interview with Punch, the actress revealed more about her husband's fate and what she went through in his hands.

When Saturday Beats reached out to the ace actress, she made it known that she has nothing to do with her husband’s predicament. She explained that the matter was reported to the appropriate agencies and they are handling the case according to the law.

She said, “The case is no longer between my husband and I. It is now between the Office of Public Defenders, Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and my husband. The officer is the one handling the case.”

Aigbe in an emotional laden voice said that she wants her husband to know the gravity of what he has done because till date, she is still coughing out blood due to the beatings she got from him.

“I cannot be washing my dirty linen in public and that is why I do not want to go into details of my marriage. It is not in my place to send him to jail. I only reported to the appropriate authorities and I just need him to show remorse for what he has done to me. He does not know the gravity of what he has done to me, the pains that I feel right now and the trauma I have gone through.

I am still in pains and I am bleeding internally because I am still coughing out blood. Instead of him to be remorseful, he was busy going online to say all sorts of things about me and concocting lies.
He has been fabricating stories to taint my image because he knows I am the one with a reputation at stake. I intentionally did not say anything even though I have proof of everything I have to say. Instead of my husband to show some sense of responsibility and own up to what he did, he was busy dragging my name in the mud,” Aigbe said.

She told Saturday Beats that she endured a lot in her seven-year-old marriage but she stayed put because of her children and the people who look up to her as a role model. She said, “I endured all the things that I went through in his hands because of my children and also because of the fact that people look up to me as a role model.

I have been through a lot and I pray and fast a lot so that things would go on smoothly. I have been praying and enduring a lot but this last time, the beating was brutal and he almost killed me.”

The actress told Saturday Beats that Gentry kept claiming that she was promiscuous but that it is a false statement aimed at tarnishing her image. Aigbe said it was never reported that she was promiscuous while she was a single lady, so why would she start such an act as a married woman.

“Before I got married, there was no scandal about me being promiscuous, no one could say that I was sleeping around; so why would I now do such as a married woman? If I were that promiscuous like he claims, how come no journalist has ever reported such stories about me? I have been working so hard to build my brand and now he wants to rubbish it,” she said.

She said that he husband’s major problem is his anger and although she had advised him to go for anger management classes, he refused.

“The problem with him is that he cannot control his anger and I have advised him on several occasions to see a therapist or enroll in anger management class to learn how to control his temper but he refused.

He gets violent whenever he is angry and that is his problem. There is no way a couple would not fight but it does not always have to lead to physical violence. On that fateful day, he hit my head on the wall just because I found out that he was having an affair with someone very close to me and we had an argument. He came to beat me at my tailor’s place.

He even beat my make-up artiste and broke her hand. It was from that place that I was rushed to the hospital very late that night. When he was beating me, he was acting as if he was possessed.
Ever since he had been beating me, he had never beaten me to this extent. It was as if he had made up his mind to kill me or blind me so that my career would end. I don’t know why he is doing all this. I have offered to take him to church but whenever we get there, he would refuse to enter.
I tried all my best. If only he went for therapy, all this would not have happened and I don’t have to stay with him till he kills me. Imagine if I had died that day, I wonder what kind of cover up story he would have released to the public,” the actress said.

She made it clear that she was fighting for her life.
“I am fighting for my life because if I die there would be no image to protect. I just want him to sign an undertaking that nothing would happen to me because a man who is capable of sending thugs to the house is capable of anything. Someone who can set me up and lie that I have mental illness can do anything. He should sign the undertaking and we should go our different ways. If not, I would leave the case to the appropriate agency and the law would take its full course,” Aigbe said.

"PLEASE STOP EMBARRASSING THE IGBO...IFEANYI UBA CAPABLE OF DEFENDING HIMSELF"~~JOE IGBOKWE

Joe Igbokwe, the Publicity Secretary of the Lagos State chapter of the APC in a lengthy post has weighed into the alleged corruption scandal hovering around the CEO of Capital Oil & Gas Ltd, Chief (Dr) calling on all Easterners to stop embarrassing the Igbos. Read his post below...
Just recently the DSS invited a friend of mine and bonafide son of Nnewi, Chief (Dr) Ifeanyi Ubah of Capital Oil & Gas Ltd fame to come and give an account of the whereabouts millions of liters of PMS stored by NNPC on his Tank farms. Since this invitation, I have read some funny write-ups online in defense of the Nnewi Chief and some trying to read ethnic meaning to DSS intervention.

Now the truth is this: My good friend Chief Ifeanyi Ubah is capable of defending himself and Capital Oil & Gas Ltd. He has formidable structures in place and good lawyers to defend his case. He does not need yahoo, yahoo boys and girls and frustrated political hustlers to defend himself. He does not need internet rats and professional pay-me-I-write-for-you fraudsters. What I have been reading about this drama online is totally uncalled for. It is ridiculous, shameful and at best, clannish.

This brigandage did not start today. When Diezani Alison-Madueke was declared wanted by EFCC for fraud in the oil industry, we saw this kind of shameless intervention from people who should know better and those with full doses of Western education. When Stella Oduah was being probed for purchasing armored BMW cars at astronomical prices, some Igbo leaders rose to her defense. They erected billboards in the South-East and celebrated her with a chieftaincy title, Ada Igbo Nile. The impression being created is that prominent Igbo citizens are being persecuted because they are Igbo. I call this persecution complex, leadership complex and defeatist syndrome.

It is even annoying that Col. Sambo Dasuki's defense is being done not by his northern brothers but Igbo who are sworn to bland defense of everything PDP. They are the most fanatical mourners of the loss of Jonathan and PDP even when the Ijaws have moved on.

NIA boss, Ayo Oke has been facing series of interrogations by the EFCC concerning the Osborne Towers 15 billion naira cash haul and I have not read any Yoruba defending him. Babachir Lawal, the suspended SFG, is being probed for contract scam and yet I have not seen his kinsmen rising in his defense. They allow investigations to go the whole hog.

There are litanies of such trials of corrupt people of all ethnicities and tribes going on everywhere in Nigeria, but it is only Igbo who defends their fellow tribesmen implicated in scandals.

Yet this was not always the case for Igbo. Indeed, Ala Igbo is noted as a land where our ancestors and forefathers abhorred evil and treated corruption with unambiguous disapproval from even pre-colonial times.

What is wrong with present-day Igbo? What we see today is not our tradition. It is not our culture. Let nobody rewrite our history, our culture, and our tradition of eziokwu bu ndu (truth is life).

We see this funny re-occurring decimal more in the South-East and South-South and it is becoming a national embarrassment. It must stop. I am told that stupidity is knowing the truth, seeing the truth but believing in lies. Igbo are a very hard-working, proud and successful tribe, but we need to come down from a 30,000-foot building to make sense to other Nigerians.

We need to stop this aberration that is demeaning and ridiculing Igbo in Nigeria today. We need to caution ourselves before we become objects of ridicule and butts of ribaldry of other Nigerians, as is dangerously becoming the fad in the country today.
