TURKISH FOOTBALLER CONFESSING "TO KILLING" HIS SON BECAUSE HE DIDN'T LOVE HIM

A Turkish footballer has been arrested after allegedly confessing that he smothered his five-year-old son to death with a pillow because he 'didn't love him and hadn't 'since he was born'.

Defender Cevher Toktas, 32,was arrested earlier this month after his five-year-old son, Kasim, died at Dortcelik Children's Hospital in the city of Bursa.

According to Turkish media, Toktas took his son to hospital on April 23 because he was suffering from breathing difficulties and a high fever, two symptoms of Coronavirus.

Toktas and his son were then placed into quarantine together by doctors. Later that day, he reportedly informed staff that Kasim was struggling to breathe, and the boy was taken to intensive care where he died shortly afterwards.
Doctors ruled the five-year-old's death as natural and recorded Covid-19 as the cause of death. But 11 days after the boy's death, Toktas reportedly travelled to a local police station to hand himself in and admit that he had killed his son.

He allegedly told officers that he smothered his son with a pillow after hospital staff left them alone.

Turkish media have reported that his statement read: 'I pressed a pillow on my son who was lying on his back.

'For 15 minutes, I pressed down on the pillow without lifting it up. My son was struggling during that time.

After he stopped moving, I lifted the pillow. Then I yelled for doctors to help to draw any suspicions away from me.'

Asked why he killed his son Kasim, he allegedly told cops that the reason he killed Kasim was because he 'didn't love him' and hadn't 'since he was born'.

The defender, who is said to have denied having any 'mental issues', was immediately arrested. He will be tried for 'murdering a close relative' and faces a life sentence if found guilty.

Kasim was buried in a makeshift grave after his death but authorities are planning to remove his corpse in order for an autopsy to take place as part of the ongoing investigation.

CULTURE AND TOURISM: IJEBU-IFE : CITY OF REFUGE

Ijebu-Ife is one of the ancient towns in Ijebu.History of this town has been scanty because it was ritually decreed, in earlier times of its founding, that the history of the town must not be told. In this regards, i will not go into details about  how this great community was founded.

 CITY OF REFUGE
"From antiquity till the second half of the last century,Ijebu-Ife was inviolable as a sanctuary for anybody, irrespective of his status or crime. As long as the person in flight from danger or justice remained in Ijebu-Ife,his assailants could not touch him.

A salient example was that of Balogun Kuku of Ijebu-Ode, who fled from his adversaries in Ibadanin 1881and finally to Ijebu-Ife in 1891,when his life and property became endangered byIjebu residents at Ibadan.
He remained at Ijebu-Ife before retuning to Ijebu-Ode in May1892,following the crushing defeat of the combine Ijebu warriors by the British-led IJEBU expeditionary Force"( Excerpt from: Sojourn:Emeritus Professor V.A. Oyenuga's Biography ny Adebayo Adesoye)

PRESENT DAY IJEBU-IFE
According to Oba Adesesan Afolorunso Oguntayo  FCA , who is the 42nd Ajalorun of Ijebu-Ife. he said: "Awujale is the Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland. He is a great King. In Nigeria, he is the longest reigning Oba. He ascended the throne at an early age. He has experience.

Fortunately in History, the Awujale and Ajalorun were the prominent Obas, when the British came in 1892, there were 5 major kings in Ijebuland then. They were called 5 Obas (Oba Marun) in those days. Awujale was No 1. Akarigbo was No 2. Ajalorun was there. Olowu and Dagburewe. Those were the Oba Maruns. And there were records that Ajalorun should be next in rank to Awujale. In 1937, when Remo was carved out of Ijebuland, Remo became its own division. There was a judicial report that made Remo to be carved out of Ijebuland and they were called Remoland. So the remaining Ijebus are together.

So the Ajalorun is expected to be the next in rank to Awujale. There are records. There are gazettes. There are decisions in the traditional council to support this but for one reason or the other, the government is not looking into this question of seniority. That is why I want to put Ajalorun back to its proper position. As I said, from 5 traditional kings, there are over fifty something kings now, and we are all Part 2 Obas. This was established during the reign of Governor Daniel. We are all been taken as if we are all the same. We are not. Of recent some Obas were made first class, but you don’t promote Obaship. Obaship is traditional. People who know our tradition know who is who.

As far as Ajalorun is concerned, Ajalorun traditionally, and Awujale, from oral history and even from Intelligence report, are both children of Oduduwa of different mothers because we in Ijebu-Ife are the Ife in Ijebu. We used to say Ife-Ijebu. We came directly from Ife. We didn’t come with the entourage of Awujale.

According to the history handed over to us from our greatfathers, we got here in 1450. That is the 1st Ajalorun and I am now the 42nd Ajalorun on the throne. From intelligence report and oral history, we understand that Obanta to who left Ile-Ife looking for Oluwa got to Ijebu-Ode in 1470.

But all these histories have been turned around. Nobody knows which is the true story or the true position. So far so good, Ajalorun is one of the paramount members of the state council of Obas and also member Ijebu traditional council. And so whether we like it or or not under the leadership of the Awujale, Ajalorun and Awujale must work together and be at peace. That is the way I see it."~~Oba Adesesan Afolorunso Oguntayo

CELEBRITIES TALK: MY LAGOS

This is where everything happens. Moreso, this is a show business capital. Even as crazy as it is, the traffic jam and all that, this is where it happens ~~Weird MC

What I don’t really like about Lagos is people running after you being an artiste. I thank God for that because it is very encouraging. But when it comes to extorting money from, this and that, you can go bankrupt. But I really like it because it shows that what you are doing is really, really encouraging. But one thing about Lagos is the problem of light. Light goes on and off anything, which is bad.~~Tony Tetuila

As much as it might actually seem to be a bad point, it is a good point, which is the fact that an average Lagosian is a hustler. I remember when I went to Ghana, I felt sick because of their slow pace. They’re very laid back about work and very content. But in Lagos, we’re always hustling, no matter how much you have in your account.~~OJB

I like the fact that everyone is hustling. No one wants to depend on anyone. The city is active, everyone knows why they’re here and what they’re doing~~Obesere

We like the media houses because there are a lot of television stations to watch.~~P-Square
Lagos is more than anywhere! I enjoy living in Lagos more than anywhere in the world. I just like being a Lagosian. I like everything about Lagos.~~Femi Opalemo

My Lagos, ‘The area boys and agberos, they harass you at bus stops, slap you in the butts’~~Joke Jaiyesomi

‘Once in a while you need noise and Lagos can give you that’~~Sound Sultan
Lagos is one hell of a place. It’s the best city in the world. I love the fact that it’s the only place where you can buy things so cheaply.~~Kenny Ogungbe

IG OF POLICE ORDERS IMMIDIATE WITHDRAWALOF E-MONEY POLICE ESCORT

The Lagos State Police Command has  withdrawn the  policemen attached to the Chairman, Five Star Group, Emeka Okonkwo aka E-Money.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, said , “I can confirm that E-Money’s policemen have been withdrawn. We were ordered to do so and the directive has been complied with. I do not know the reason for the order at this time.”

E-Money, was said to have drawn the ire of the police boss for using policemen like domestic servants.

A top police officer said, “We received a signal from the Force headquarters on Monday that the police detail of music executive, E-Money, be immediately withdrawn and an investigation into the man be launched.

“The IG was surprised that policemen were attached to him in the first place and were being used as domestic servants, carrying umbrellas, opening doors and doing menial jobs for him.

“The policemen were discovered to be attached to B Operations at the command headquarters and not MOPOL which is the usual practice. So, we have withdrawn his policemen and we are inviting him for questioning. The policemen will also be interrogated.”
