FEMI KUTI : WHY I SAT NEXT TO MY EX @ FEMI SEGUN'S BURIAL

Femi Kuti needs no introduction at all. He is the first son of Afro beat king, Fela Kuti. In his recent interview, he opened up on his ex-wife and himself.
Femi stated that he met his wife through his cousin said: ‘I met her at a restaurant where I was playing jazz, at a place called ‘44’ in Ikoyi. She came with my cousin, Funmi Ransome-Kuti, they were in UNILAG together. She was so beautiful and she was looking at me, so I knew she likes me. So, I told my cousin to introduce me to her. That’s how we met.’
Femi who was spotted sitting next to Funke at ‘Femi Segun’s burial, said his son Made asked him to sit close to his mum: ‘ Human beings must fight. There must be misunderstanding sometimes. It is now left to us if we are matured enough to overcome these problems. To some people, breakup is so bitter that they end up hating each other. I manage to take my hatred and throw it away, and still respect her as a human being and the mother of my son, and most importantly for the love of my son who needs his mother. If she too understands that he needs his father then we must get rid of our misunderstanding. He was the one at the church who said ‘please sit beside my mother’; I had to oblige him.’
However, he doubted their coming back as husband and wife, but went further to say, ‘You never know what God has in plan for you. What if you say never and something just happens? If they told me she would leave my house one day, I would have said it is impossible. So, if she comes back one day, you never know what can happen. One sickness can hook you down and she might be the person by your bedside, what would happen?’

Femi admitted that it is not possible to throw 10 years relationship away, and he said  there are great, good and bad memories. He then recounts how he proposed to her. ‘ I just told her that ‘from today, we are boyfriend and girlfriend’. She said, ‘ha ha, what kind of love is this?’ I said, ‘when we have been calling ourselves every day, are we misleading ourselves? And it was on a Christmas Eve. I said to her ‘from today you are my girlfriend, if you have a boyfriend, get rid of him now because I must not see him when I get to your house’ and she laughed. That was how we started.’
Femi who is now 52, added that ‘Never say never! If you ask if I am happy right now, I am very happy not just with my relationship, I am also very happy with my children who are progressing, which is really my priority.’
.
Did you give Funke a ring, that ‘with this I thee wed’? Femi responded: ‘ No, she bought the ring. And you put it in her finger? Yes, in the registry.’

BASHORUN BAYO AWOSANYA: A CASE OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMAN

In one of my earlier blog, I wrote that if your lover or your husband has turned you into a punch bag, the best thing to do is to pack your bag and baggage’s, bid the relationship bye-bye. The simple reason for this is that a violence man will remain violent.

Of recent, the case of violence against women seems to be the latest pride among men. The case of Governor Sullivan Chime and that of his beautiful wife, Clara Chime is still fresh in my memory, when she  raised an alarm that her husband imprisoned her and that her two psychiatrists, Dr. Onwukwe and Dr. Agumuo, had prescribed “all kinds of drugs that ends up keeping me acute depressed and also drives me into hallucinations,”

Akolade Arowolo, who was found of guilty of stabbing his wife, Titilayo 76 times on  the 24th June, 2011 at their residence, 8 Akindeinde Street, Isolo, Lagos, both were in a relationship that was characterised by domestic violence.

Bashorun Bayo Awosanya,   APC chieftain in Ogun state is the latest wife beater, who was involved in domestic violence with his wife, that almost resulted in the loss her life, but for the timely intervention of the gate-man.

According to the sources, the incident occurred at his Sagamu GRA residence, around 8.30pm on the 20th of April 2014 (easter sunday),   when Bashorun returned angrily from a house-warming party and accused his wife of not attending the party with him. ‘’And before the wife could give a meaningful excuse, he pounced on her and started beating her blue and black as has been his regular act. Sensing danger, the wife made for an escape through the staircase, where he caught up with her, and started hitting her head on the glass railings, and strangulating her.’’
The wife is currently receiving treatment in the hospital.

IS IT TRUE THAT MUSLIM CLERICS ARE RECRUITING BOKO HARAM IN CAMEROON/NIGERIA BORDER TOWNS?

Strategy Page, a US-based online military news agency, published an allegation made by the government of Cameroon that Nigerian Muslim clerics living in the border towns of Cameroon and Nigeria are recruiting Boko Haram members in their mosques.

According to the magazine, “many officials in in the North East states of Yobe, Borno and Adamawa are cooperating with Boko Haram (to avoid attack) and are taking bribes from the Islamic terrorists.

“Some of these officials are covering themselves in case Boko Haram should gain power and the governors are often just responding to civilian fears of army misconduct,”

The magazine went further that “Cameroon is also concerned about pro-Boko Haram clerics from Nigeria quietly preaching and recruiting for Boko Haram in Cameroon mosques.

“Islamic conservative clergy are not unusual on either side of the border, but those who do not denounce Boko Haram are suspected of quietly recruiting young men to join the “jihad” (struggle) and fight (and often die) in Nigeria. These preachers have to recruit quietly because otherwise police in Cameroon will arrest and deport them, sometimes after a vigorous interrogation. Evidence of this recruiting is showing up when some of the recruits return from Nigeria with tales of disillusionment and adversity while with Boko Haram,” the report said.

The magazine said that the Cameroonian government is “being criticized because recent claims of large (over 5,000 weapons) arms seizures near the Nigerian border could not be verified by reporters. Civilians living in villages near where the government said the seizures took place said they saw nothing. The government responded that the smugglers operated in remote areas and avoided civilians as well as security forces. There are also concerns that even if weapons were seized they would, as often happens, be sold back to black market arms dealers so that government officials could keep the cash.”
On the military, the report said: “Residents of those three states have justifiable complaints about the army, in particular the casual attitude of the military towards the safety of civilians and their property.

“The army is also unreliable when it comes to sharing information on casualties. Thus Boko Haram related deaths so far this year is believed to be (based on local reports) at least 1,500, which is 50 per cent more than what the army reports. Boko Haram related deaths from 2010 to 2013 were about 3,600, so the violence is not declining.

“The government has been saying, for several years, that Boko Haram would be crushed within a year and never happens. More insightful observers point out that the problem is mainly one of corruption and poverty, as well as the appeal of Islamic radicalism as a magical cure. All of Nigeria suffers from corruption.

“Poverty is more prevalent in the Muslim north, in part because of climate. That’s because the semi-desert Sahel region south of the Sahara Desert is found in the north. Another problem is the more conservative nature of Islamic populations and the lower education levels.”

It would be recalled that Boko Haram sect have claimed responsibility for the attack on Nyanya bus station where over 74 persons were killed and several others injured on Monday, while the kidnapping of about 129 school girls were also carried out by this dreaded group.
A former military Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon has described the ongoing activities of Boko Haram insurgents in the nation as another civil war

NIGERIAN NATIONAL PETROLEUM CORPORATION IS A CULT

Senator Jim Nwobodo, former Governor of old Anambra State and member National Conference Committee on Energy, has painted a sorry situation of the power problem in the country, saying that many people do not want to come to Nigeria for any business because of the situation.

Describing the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, as a cult, he said: “NNPC is cult, it is what we know and it is not good for this country. Many people do not know what is happening in NNPC. We must take the issue of power very seriously.”

Jim Nwobodo, revelations need to look into critically because he must know better as a former governor, a former minister, a former senator and even as a current member of  National Conference.

WONDERMAN: 30 KIDS WITH 11 WOMEN !!!

“I’m done!”   That was the words from 33-year-old Knoxville, Tenn., resident Desmond Hatchett ,  who has reportedly set a Knox County record for his ability to reproduce.  According to the news, he has 30 children with 11 women then. And nine of those children were born between 2009-2012.

However, it was gathered that Desmond vowed in a 2009 TV interview, saying he wouldn’t father more children. Why not?

Hatchett , according to the news is  struggling to make ends meet on his minimum-wage job. His inability to make child-support payments on such a meagre salary also means he’s back in court again and again, most recently to ask for a break on those payments.

“Yes, we’ve got several cases with Mr. Hatchett,” Melissa Gibson, an assistant supervisor with the Knox County child support clerk’s office, said with a sigh.Under the law, there’s nothing officials can do to force Hatchett to keep his pants on.Gibson  said “If there’s something out there like that, I’m unaware of it,”  before adding, “It definitely needs to be.”

Gibson said Hatchett is believed to hold the Knox County record for most children. Gibson went further to say that she couldn’t say whether any of his children receive public assistance. The youngest is a toddler; the oldest is 14 (16 years) now 2014.

According to law, when Hatchett is working, he is required to turn over 50% of his wages for child support — the maximum allowed under law. Child support payments are based in part on the ages and needs of the children. Some of the mothers of Hatchett’s children get only $1.49 a month!.

COUNTRY IN DARKNESS:NIGERIA'S ELECTRICITY GENERATION HAS DROPPED

NIGERIA'S electricity generation has dropped to 1,714.89 Megawatts Hour/Hour (MWH/H) as at yesterday, compared with 3,563 generated in December last year, 2013.

The country’s electricity generation since the inception of the Jonathan government is so bad that nothing good can be writing about.

The current drop in electricity generation may not be unconnected to electricity bottleneck such as the prolongation of Interim Rules Period (IRP), this was the position of the Chairman of Presidential Taskforce on Power, Beks Dagogo-Jack, said recently that there was every indication that the IRP designated to terminate on March 1, 2014 or “such other time as the commission may designate” shall not occur on the said date.
‘’He went further to say that  the prolonged Interim Rules Order (IRO) and continued delay in the declaration of Transitional Electricity Market Stage (TEM) could encourage the power Distribution Companies (Discos) to engage in avoidable sharp practices especially those with “favourable” minimum monthly invoice settlement conditions.

He explained that the Discos may be collecting a lot more and yet short-changing the market ...a situation which could seriously threaten service delivery sustenance owing to mounting unpaid upstream liabilities which can cause a serious decline in gas and generation availability in a matter of months, such that sustaining even 3000MW on the grid could become a herculean task under these conditions .

He said that deliverable milestones contained in the very bold and ambitious Nigeria Power Sector Reform Roadmap launched had been achieved except two, which are the declaration by the Minister of Power of the TEM that would kick-start a fully contracted and rules-governed electricity market wherein the sanctity of contracts shall be full to protect market liquidity, and incentivise increased investment and a well incentivised and liberalised domestic gas market expected to be delivered by the pending Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB).

Dagogo-Jack hinted that conscious of the risks associated with handing over the companies for privatised company operation without TEM or a substitute, the Presidential Task Force on Power made repeated representations to the Ministry of Power, Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) leading eventually to an acceptance by NERC to develop and institute a set of interim rules to conduct the market in the pre-TEM phase. Such would be done until the declaration of TEM with a commitment that the IRP shall not be in operation for more than three months.
Dagogo-Jack noted that unfortunately the IRO issued by NERC in December 2013 appears to have some significant sources of concern which are capable of impacting very negatively with the sustainability of the market especially as it appears the IRP would stretch much longer than the three months originally committed to by NERC.
He noted that a key implication of the non-declaration of TEM was the necessary suspension of all the industry agreements and contracts between the trading parties. “The main effect of this during the IRP is that the market participants (gas suppliers , Gencos , TCN , Discos , MO , NBET ) have no enforceable and fully risk-allocated contractual basis for extracting performance from one another.”

I would never allow Beks Dagogo-Jack , to fool me with his technical jargons; Interim Rules Period (IRP), prolonged Interim Rules Order (IRO), Transitional Electricity Market Stage (TEM), Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB). Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) etc.etc , all what Nigerian are asking for is regular and uninterrupted power supply.
