Three Nigerian scammers,Oladimeji Seun Ayelotan, 30, Rasaq Aderoju Raheem, 31 and Femi Alexander Mewase,45,   have been given jail sentences for defrauding victims they met on dating sites of tens of millions of dollars.

Oladimeji Seun Ayelotan, 30, was sentenced to 95 years in prison; Rasaq Aderoju Raheem, 31, was sentenced to 115 years and Femi Alexander Mewase, 45, got 25 years in prison, according to a report by Infosecurity Magazine. That brings it to a total of 235 years in prison.

They were tried and found guilty by a court in the Southern District of Mississippi. Their crimes include; identity theft, mail, credit card, and wire fraud; and theft of government property.

Ayelotan and Raheem were also found guilty of conspiracies to commit bank fraud and money laundering.

The scammers have reportedly been carrying out their operations as far back as 2001. They were part of a string of scams against Americans, facilitated by internet communications. They got involved in what is popularly called 419, where their victims are promised a massive amount in return for making some payments into the criminals' accounts.  The criminals did not stop there but went even further.

They reportedly befriend women on dating sites, start a romantic relationship and then either get them to send money or have them participate in fraud schemes, usually without the victim’s knowledge. Sometimes the unsuspecting women were made to cash counterfeit checks or use stolen credit cards to buy things. They were used to launder money via Western Union and the likes.

They were also accused of running romance stings to steal from lonely people, shipping fraud, running fake work-from-home businesses, check fraud, and hijacking other people’s bank accounts and credit cards to divert funds.

21 defendants have already been charged in the case, which is still ongoing. 12 of whom have pleaded guilty to charges involving conspiracy and 11 of whom have been sentenced.

Authorities suspected that they were bound for Pattaya in Thailand.

Paschal denied knowledge of the drugs and had claimed that he had only gotten to know Anthony at the airport, which the latter corroborated.

DRAMA: PASTOR'S WIFE STORMS CHURCH TO ACCUSE HIM OF IMPREGNATING CHURCH MEMBER IN AKWA IBOW (PHOTOS)

"I want every man and woman who has conscience in this church to ask my husband why he is doing this to me, why would he be sleeping with a young girl who came to seek counseling and prayers from him,” Mrs. Ese wife of the Pastor of the Kairos Rhema Embassy, Uyo, Akwa Ibom state  told church members.

Church service at the Kairos Rhema Embassy in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state took an unusual turn when the wife of the church's pastor disrupted service to inform congregants that her husband had been cheating on her with a church member and had even impregnated the woman.

Mrs Ese also accused her husband of domestic violence and showed them a photo of her with  bloodied face as proof, saying the reason for the assault was because she caught him in a hotel with the church member, Evelyn.

When the pastor's wife, Idongesit Ese, came into the church premises, she was barred from entering the auditorium, reportedly because her husband, Pastor Nsikanabasi Ese, suspected she would try to pull such a stunt.

As soon as she got out of her car and tried to get into the church premises, a group of men, reportedly hired by her husband, attacked her and the newsmen present. Witnesses told Premium Times that they saw one of the thugs slap Mrs. Ese. But she remained defiant and was able to make her way into the church premises from where she told her story loudly for those within the church to hear her.

“I caught my husband in a hotel having sex with Evelyn Etim. As I speak to you, Evelyn has given birth to a baby boy and she is living in Eket with my husband.”

She said: “I want members of the church to know why I haven’t been attending programmes. Many people have been calling me to inform me that my husband lied that I traveled out of the country."

People who claim to have spoken with Pastor Ese said the pastor was accusing the wife of having lied to him about her age and her level of education and has now filed for a divorce. Pastor Moses, who stood in as Pastor Ese’s father during the estranged couple's traditional marriage, said that he doesn't believe Pastor Ese was called by God.

Pastor Moses said:  “He didn’t give me any vital reason why he should divorce, he just said the woman is harsh. I don’t believe he is called by God. I have told him and his mother not to come to my house anymore."

Pastor Nsikanabasi Ese is the same pastor who knocked down a customs officer while trying to evade duties check some weeks back.

MONICA LEWINSKY BLAMES LATE FOX NEWS CEO ROGER AILES FOR MAKING HER LIFE A NIGHTMARE

Monica Lewinsky , recently, in the New York Times article, wrote an op-ed piece about the late Fox News chairman Roger Ailes.  Lewinsky blamed Ailes for building a news empire out of her affair with former President Bill Clinton.

She wrote, “Mr. Ailes, a former Republican political operative, took the story of my affair and the trial that followed and made certain his anchors hammered it ceaselessly, 24 hours a day.”

Lewinsky said Ailes changed the way cable news is delivered and jump-started the always-on, 24/7 coverage we are now accustomed to. She wrote, “Their dream was my nightmare. My character, my looks and my life were picked apart mercilessly.”

She confessed that Ailes’s decision to take advantage of her story even made her suicidal.

“My family and I huddled at home, worried about my going to jail — I was the original target of Kenneth Starr’s investigation, threatened with 27 years for having been accused of signing a false affidavit and other alleged crimes — or worse, me taking my own life,” she wrote.

The former White House intern said there was a cultural change in 1998 when her scandal surfaced. She called it cyberbullying.

Lewinsky wrote, “It worked like magic: The story hooked viewers and made them Fox loyalists. For the past 15 years, Fox News has been the No. 1 news station; last year the network made about $2.3 billion.”

The 43-year-old concluded with a final farewell to Ailes and her hopes that Fox News may finally deliver fair and balanced news.

AN 8-YEAR OLD HOUSE-HELP BEATEN TO DEATH BY HER MADAM IN LAGOS

An 8-year-old girl has died in Lagos after she was beaten to death by her female employer. The suspect, who is a mother-of-two and pregnant with her third, was reportedly in the habit of maltreating the victim and a second house help living with her.

According to neighbours, the suspect, known as Oby in her neighbourhood in Isolo, 'usually beats and overworks' the deceased, Miracle Edegwu, and her colleague. She had also withdrawn both girls from school after she brought them from Anambra state to Lagos. When neighbours confronted her about the way she treated the girls, she remained defiant and told them to mind their business.

Early on Saturday morning, she launched another attack on the little girl, leading to her death.

After Miracle died, Oby tried to cover her death by contacting people to assist in covertly disposing of the body but they were caught by neighbours who then reported to the authorities. The suspect was then detained at the Isolo Police Division.

The victim’s corpse had been deposited at the Isolo General Hospital.
